Right when I got off the plane, I was immediately like, “uhh, this is the most Filipinos I’ve seen ever!” They all laughed, but I guess this is the start of my time and rediscovering the culture I grew up in. For now I feel more like a visitor visiting another country, but I do hope that during the trip, I find something that will connect me back to my homeland. Whether it be seeing my family for the first time in 12 years or eating the food that I dearly miss or the things I see to serve as memory helpers…

UPDATE: I just had a lansones.. Right before I had it, I had forgotten how it tasted like and once I put it in my mouth, a burst of flavor and memory came over me and it was awesome. Eek! Thank you Jesus for that simple experience!

Overall, I am excited, nervous and tired all at the same time!

Hello everyone! I want to start this trip off by writing my first blog. I want to take the time and as much opportunity to share what I am doing, experiencing and taking in during this trip. I hope that this helps me soak in whatever I’ll see, feel, hear and all the other senses! I also hope that this blog can be a special thank you to all the people who have supported me so that I can get to this point in this mission. I especially want to praise God for placing this particular experience in my life!

I am thankful for food. The Lord has blessed me with awesome taste buds to taste awesome food. While I watch a little bit of Food Network: Iron Chef tonight, I crave to try something new and something good! This comes up to mind because I, in the same way that food nourishes my hungry body, taking photos nourishes my hunger for creativity. The Lord really knows my heart! I’ve been craving to get out there and do something about that hunger. And here He has given tools to taste this new world! From the camera, the macbook , the sites, the eyes and the people I am inspired to do so much more!

This day with Joy Desamito was just wonderful! Andrew and I took her to a good friend’s house for her 18th birthday photos. It was such a beautiful day to take photos of this young, fun and growing sister. She is a great sister, not only to me, but to all people that she encounters. Her passion for God is truly moving her to a new direction. She is celebrating her 18th birthday with the people that she loves this May and I can’t wait to celebrate it with her and the community!

Oh, and it was SO much FUN! Looking forward for the next one, now back to studying. Hah..eh.

Diggin’ the New Look

I get all giddy when I find something I like. This lay out is definitely one of those things. I like how clean and simple it is. The best part is that it features the image on the post. This is what I’m all about & praise God that I stumbled upon this!

More about the photo. I was with the youth after a household to take a couple of fun shots with them. They started to play some games on the streets and it ends up that one of the sisters left her purse behind. I’m guessing she did not want to leave it on the snow, so she hung it on the branch. What a great idea. This cute purse definitely needed some care. Handle the hand bag with care, I thought. So here it is after a few post process works.

Fun note. I didn’t know whose purse this actually was, so I made it a mission for the next meeting to find out who it belonged to. I was ecstatic to find her and show her this image. I thanked her.

Open Mic Night

Sometimes when I wish I wasn’t a nursing major, this is my world away from it. Photography– post processing photos definitely is my mental and physical vacation from it the strenuous work of nursing school. I feel that God has blessed me with so many roles to play in life and this role is one of them that keeps me creative and gives me an energy boost! Praise God for being able to be part of the youth ministry of CFC-FFL, because without it, I probably won’t have had to do this kind of work that I very much enjoy!
